Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze (/ˈɪːqʊ/ /ˈs̺ɑmæ/ [skilled] [string; cord; thread; strand]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Barrowvale Dutchy, Mî Kûrà Empire, within the Warrenese Shogunate.

The name Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze is derived from the Wareneese language, as Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze was founded by Holgerh Glêm, who was culturaly Wareneese.

Climate

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has a yearly average temperature of 15°C (59°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 3°C (37°F). Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze receives an average of 255 cm/y (100 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3408 m (11181 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze was founded durring the early 12th century in winter of the year 1136, by Holgerh Glêm. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Holgerh Glêm.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze was built using the conventions of Wareneese durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of restrictive packed earth streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze’s streets. A look around Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s everything together. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze long.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze. Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. In spite of the Galvanic Grid, these lights continue to use their old fule sources to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze's natural decorations nor waterways.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by their massive, monolithic and 'blocky' appearance with a rigid geometric style. It was best known for its rough, unfinished surfaces, unusual shapes, heavy-looking materials, straight lines, and small windows. Modular elements were often used to form masses representing specific functional zones, grouped into a unified whole.

In Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze there are unidentifiable people in the fog, but it seems to be okay.

The Sasquatch near Îqû S̺âmæ Mîze are known to be more aggressive than normal.
